Migration#

In this guide we will go through, how to migrate older FX-controller to FX-3000-X.

Step by step guide

Note

Required tools:

  • FxEditor 2.0.6.0 or newer

Case 1: FX-3000-C does not start up properly – Phase 1, import backup#

Note

Required tools:

  • Screwdriver

  • microSD memory card reader

  1. Power off the old C-controller.

  2. Remove memory card. Memory card is located behind lower lid on front face.

  3. Put the memory card on your card-reader.

  4. Create backup before editing any data on memory card. On memory card: Zip the card Backups folder, rename it, and put .zip-file on your backups.

  5. Open Fx-Editor and create new project if you don’t have existing one already. Select FX-3000-C for PLC model.

  6. Open the project files view on Fx-Editor “Fidelix” tab.

  7. Create Backup -folder in Fidelix-folder if one doesn’t exist.

  8. Copy-paste the selected data-backup folder from memory card to “Project/Fidelix/Backup/.

  9. Copy-paste the selected www-folder content from selected backup from memory card to project “Project/Fidelix/www -folder.

  10. Continue to phase 2…

Case 2: Reading backup from FX-3000-C -controller – Phase 1, import backup#

  1. Open Fx-Editor and create new project if you don’t have existing one already. Select FX-3000-C for PLC model.

  2. Choose Fidelix-menu -> Backup

  3. Select following options and OK.

  4. Open the project files view on Fx-Editor “Fidelix” tab

  5. Open the Backup-folder and new backup. Copy-paste the selected www-folder content from selected backup to project “Project/Fidelix/www -folder

  6. Continue to phase 2…

Case 1 & 2: Phase 2, Validating and sending the data#

  1. Go to the FxEditor.

  2. On graphics page:

    • Include all used graphic files to project.

    • Create new dynamic menu (fdxindex.htm), save and close it.

  3. On project -> Communication settings page:

    • Convert the project to X by changing the PLC model to FX-3000-X. This will run the validation wizard.

    • Start validation.

    • After successful validation, close the wizard.

  4. Connect to FX-3000-X.

  5. Go to the Graphics-tab and upload all included graphic files and symbols to FX-controller.

  6. Navigate to Fidelix-tab and selected backup folder.

  7. Choose data-folder and upload files, confirm the sending and stopping popup.
